Hello! See the woman in the gown with wings? That’s me playing dress up in my garden. Don’t feel jealous though, my garden never actually looks that good. And that’s one of the things I like about painting, not being bound by ordinary reality. When I do a portrait from photographs, I take a bunch of photos, while whatever is going on, goes on. (Hopefully it’s something entertaining for me and my subject.) Then, I go home, play with the photos, and meditate with the fairies until some kind of magic happens. The magic often involves furry critters. You may not be able to make it out in this little picture, but that is my dog, Rocket, to my left, wearing butterfly wings. And the little girl in green? She’s getting a tiny present from her fairy. That fairy is also responsible for the bubbles. Me Too, the furriest subject here, is a fairy all on her own. She has one of her favorite blankies as a background. Those pumpkins are not furry, but they are definitely critters.
I also do portraits and figure painting from life, but usually some sort of furriness manages to sneak its way onto my canvas before I’m done. The fairies often take me outside, where I paint landscapes too (with and without critters). If you are in New Jersey and you come across a middle aged woman, with her easel set up, painting a landscape, wearing wings, that’s probably me. Stop and say hello. I may be unusual, but I don’t bite (often).
I’m available for commissions, people, pets, houses, gardens, whatever, in oil or pastel. If you like my work, send me an email. I’d love to hear from you.
